Love is a universal language. No matter what culture you are from, what language you speak, or where you live, love is a constant in all societies. For this edition of our RTW Love Story, Ashley & Tavin Crawford are jumping on board and telling their love story.
Ashley and Tavin first met while attending Florida A & M University (#FAMUWedding). For their first date, Tavin decided to have Ashley over his house and cook for her. There were two essential characteristics they both wanted in a partner — Character and drive. Luckily for them, they both had it. After this date, it was clear that this relationship was something they both wanted to pursue.
We asked Ashley and Tavin, what made you two fall in love with each other? They both mutually agreed that seeing one another as genuinely good-hearted people, pushing past those imperfections that everyone can have to see the other side to it, and pushing one another to become better and stronger individuals.
Throughout their relationship, it was clear that this couple was in it for the long haul. After 2 years of dating, Tavin popped the question. Tavin decided to propose at Ulele Restaurant in Tampa, Florida in front of their closest family and friends. Ashley was blindfolded as she entered the restaurant. Once everyone was in their places, Ashley took the blindfold off to be surprised by Tavin down on one knee. It was a wonderful surprise.
After being engaged for a couple of months, the couple found out that Ashley was expecting a baby. They decided to push the wedding back about a year, so the new parents could get a chance to bond with their baby and for Ashley to look and feel her best on such a special day.
Like many recently engaged couples, the couple had many questions and concerns. Since Ashley and Tavin didn’t have much experience in the photography world, a concern for them was how to pose for photos. This was important for the couple and they wanted photographers that made them feel comfortable in front of the camera, as well as, could guide them through poises. Another concern for the couple was the photographer’s ability to capture those unique and important photographers throughout the wedding.
It was a joy and honor to be able to photograph this couple throughout their wedding day. It was a magical experience to witness the love they have for each other. Something that stood out to us was the immense love that Ashley and Tavin have for their children. It was so special to see the couple interact with family, as well as, witness everyone’s personality during a family photoshoot before the wedding.
Whenever we shoot a wedding it is always a pleasure to reflect on how it all unfolded before our eyes. Ashley and Tavin’s ceremony was elegant and their vows were heartfelt and touching. The reception was filled with family and friends and the energy level was incredibly high! It seemed that the night could go on forever with all the laughing, dancing, and happiness on everyone’s face. One of our favorite moments of the night was witnessing a surprise dance that the beautiful bride has choreographed for her husband.
