Choose a Great Theme

If you’re really looking to up your Instagram game, why not try doing a themed photoshoot? Maybe something like:

  1. A “12 Days of Christmas” shoot with each person representing one of the days would be super cute,
  2. or  A”Grinch who stole Christmas” themed shoot if you’re feeling silly,
  3. Choose a co lour or pattern so your holiday photos are coordinated.

Whatever theme you choose, have fun with it and let your creativity shine! Your followers will be sure to love it, and you’ll end up with great Christmas photos!

Where To Have Your Holiday Photoshoot

Location, location, location! Think about where you want to take your Christmas photos ahead of time. A festive spot like an evergreen forest or a charming Christmas market will make for great backgrounds in your photos.

You can choose anywhere with holiday spirit—you don’t have to limit yourself just because it’s wintertime. There are plenty of other places where you can have your holiday photoshoot. A town square that has lights strung up around it can be gorgeous at night (or early morning), especially when there are decorations everywhere too (think wreaths and tinsel).

Another option is to have your christmas photoshoot in the studio—if you want the most accurate lighting and color, then shooting indoors in a studio setting is ideal! You can use the space to get creative with different Christmas backdrop ideas like wrapped presents and stockings hung by the fireplace.

Go All Out With Your Holiday Photoshoot Outfits

This is one of  the most important decisions you’ll make. Planning the perfect holiday photoshoot outfit will take some effort — but when it comes down to it, the results will definitely be worth it.

What to wear for Christmas photos?

Once you know where you’ll be taking your holiday photos, it’s time to start thinking about what everyone will wear. If you want everyone to coordinate without being too matchy-matchy, try picking two or three colors that everyone can wear in their own unique way. And don’t forget accessories! A pair of antlers or some sparkly jewelry can really make a holiday outfit pop.

Your christmas photo outfits should work well with your theme. The first thing to take into consideration is the location. If you decide to shoot in a studio, you can coordinate with the set design or think about the color of the backdrop you want to use.

If your holiday photoshoot is outside, think about how the colors will blend with the location, and the weather for that day.

Once you’ve decided on the theme for your photoshoot, choosing Christmas outfit ideas will be much easier. You can get started by matching the color of your outfit to your theme. Or you can create a story and plan the outfits to match! Maybe your Christmas family photoshoot story is about magic or maybe Santa’s workshop.

Once you know what direction you want to take, start searching for pieces that fit in with your overall style.

Also remember that what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. Everyone has different styles so don’t worry about being exact replicas of each other when styling your Christmas family photoshoot!

Set The Scene For Your Holiday Photoshoot

Props can add an extra bit of fun and personality to any photo, so why not use a few festive ones to set the scene for your holiday photoshoot? Some ideas include a sled, a string of lights, wrapped presents, or even a real live reindeer (if you’re lucky enough to know someone who owns one).

If you’re looking to add some props to your Christmas photos, consider these ideas:

  1. Fake snow
  2. Wrapped gift props
  3. Christmas tree
  4. Decorations (i.e.stockings and garlands)
